Alex C. Foley is a scientist and painter based in Oxford and Brighton, United Kingdom currently completing a dphil in pathology, at the University of Oxford.

He founded trace. in 2016 after noticing how difficult it was for his queer artist friends to find time and resources to exhibit and promote their work.

He uses traditional painting techniques in his artwork to create figurative pieces that explore amateur pornography and the male form. The coexistent bleakness and unintentional humour of amateur gay pornography are at the fore of his work, and his exaggerated sense of line captures the duality of the allure and disgust elicited by these productions.
